Where: In Olberode, Germany; the village
our Goetz and Webert ancestors came from.
When: September 5-7, 2014
What will be happening: A 3-day celebration of the 650
years of the village.
Why should we go? We have been especially invited to
be a part of this celebration, to participate as guests in Olberode. We will
get to participate first-hand in German life and learn about our forebears.
What will happen to make this
workable:
- We will get to homestay with German
families – no charge.
- Transportation will be arranged to
get us to and from the airport at Frankfurt to Olberode
- We will arrange to all fly
together.
- Most Germans speak English quite
well.
- We have a wonderful liaison with a
German cousin, Ulrike (Pfaff) Bernhardt. She will be totally helpful with this.
- We have a second wonderful liaison
with Klaus Wagner, mayor of nearby Oberaula, who lives in Olberode and is
actively encouraging us to come.
- Lou Paff will arrange the details
and be tour guide to get us there and back.
